Salt Peter

Born with an innate passion for art and a home life that wasn’t so happy, I left at 16 to run off to art school. Despite facing serious adversity, including long periods of homelessness, I eventually secured scholarships that propelled me through to master's level, even if I had to sleep in empty buildings in order to study.

 

My experiences with homelessness and the abyss and the challenges entailed have deeply influenced my artistic practice, infusing my work with a raw relentlessness and a profound exploration of the human condition and the forces of nature. I’ve been inspired, if not nurtured, by the art of those living on the streets and those who paint directly on to them: No one sees as much of life as those who can’t go home.

 

With a blend of introspection and imagination, I warmly invite viewers into a world where nature and portraiture meets the surreal and curious. Where the grit meets the ink. You are most welcome here.
